This week it's Japanese waffle inspiration time, with some of my favorite japanese ingredients that you can get in most well assorted supermarkets or online.
It's no secret I love everything japanese and I have spent a lot of time in japan eating and exploring and eating some more. What I found was that so many desserts in japan are vibrant green and made with matcha, the powdered Japanese green tea, and it's delicious, so of course it's time for a Green tea waffle recipe.
The green tea waffles with vanilla yoghurt
makes 5-6 waffles.
150 g oats
1 tbsp. olive oil
100 ml. plant based milk (I used oat - you can use dairy)
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tbsp powdered Matcha (green tea)
1/4 tsp salt
Yoghurt (I used oat yoghurt)
whatever you like on top of waffles
honey/maple syrup to sweeten
How to make Green tea waffles.
Blend the oats, then add the rest of the ingredients for the waffles.
Turn on waffle iron, I set it on 4-5 spray with a tiny bit of oil. Pour 1 ladle the middle of the waffle iron, close it up and cook for about 3-4 minutes.
Repeat step 2. four to five more times.
Serve the warm waffles topped with vanilla yoghurt, and matcha powder (or whatever you like)
Plate and think of a japanese style blossoming cherry tree and listen to the words of the shiba-inu dog called Tofu-chan and then EAT and feel great! Also follow Tofu-chan for more motivational quotes.
Suggested japanese style plating:
Serve the waffle dusted with Match powder.
Suggested gourmet restaurant look waffle plated japanese style
Dust the waffle with Match powder, then add 2 tbsp of vanilla yoghurt in the center, then place another waffle on top, lift the second waffle from the bottom and up to achieve the restaurant look.
Place on plate top with favorite waffle toppings then eat!
Last week the savory cauliflower waffle sparked the Japanese waffle theme, check it out it's delicious!
